This year I want to start looking at art as a whole, and studying technique and spend time working to be better at different mediums and by that get a new appreciation for art aswell as getting better. I also want to continue to make games, but in my games I'm to try to change things up and not just stay to make style that I am developing but experimenting with other styles aswell.
And by studying different mediums I want to try some stuff on paper, but to be perfectly honest Im not interested in painting on canvas's or anything, so what I want to do is work in new programs such as photoshop, illustrator, and maybe even a bit of maya 3d. 3d doesn't have much of an appeal to me, because it seems like the field is being taken over by extremely non creative people. I look into the development of games and they spend there time doing a single model then even more time ironing out every detail to make it beautiful. And that's really not what I want to conspire to, and when we have projects talking about our future jobs everyone just puts down game developer without having any understand of the business at all, and the scary part it they could probably get into the business, these are guys who don't like art or animation and don't have any appreciation for it, they say its because they played Halo 3 and they wanted to make a UBER EPIC game like them.
But I don't know, watching animation on ng made me want to get into animation in the first place, so I guess I'm being a bit of a hypocrite being angry at these guys for seeing something they like, and something that they obviously admire and want to get into.
But I want a understanding for 3d animation, so I can possibly get a new appreciation for animation as a whole if not just 3d animation.
