Why would you re-create a pokemon game? If you did such, you would have to animate and draw all 150 characters, their moves, and then draw them from the front. (Saying you did the whole game) Then Ground Work and all the artwork would be a pain to use as references. It's just not as satisfying as creating original characters, storyline, and artwork.
Not to mention scripting most of that would be a bitch too I'm sure lol.
